Eels EP

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

I love the Eels, this was the reason given for a delay in the launch of their new EP on iTunes.

It seems that the 13 minute live version of LOVE OF THE LOVELESS is so dynamic, vital and rockin’ that it blew up an iTunes computer during mounting. So they’re still dealing with repairs and bringing in the extra technical support a track of this caliber needs and deserves. Papers have been served to Mr. E and it is believed that he will have to personally buy iTunes the new equipment himself. And he was really sick the night this track was recorded. Imagine what a healthy E could’ve done to those wimpy iTunes computers. We’ll let you know as soon as the HEY MAN iTunes EP is up and running. Sorry for the delay!

For those not down with the kids, and have never listened to the Eels, check out their videos. My favourite is Last Stop: This Town, 56K, Broadband. Anything with a singing carrot gets my vote!

More site updatage

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Frog and fishThe site has had a few more updates, just call me Mr Procrastinator. Along side the new top (logo) is a funky new flash ‘Currently listening to’ thing. For those who are enlightened and use a real browser, this works wonderfully. However for those still using Internet explorer, you might find that the track doesn’t update very often. I can’t be bothered working it out, I’ll just put it down to yet another oddity in IE. I’ve also added threaded comments, so anybody can reply to anybodies comments not just a blog article. Hope Easter was full of eggs, I unfortunately didn’t get any, time to kill bunny wabbits me feels.. Hey ho..

Open Day

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

Keele had an open day today, its funny how its always a nice hot sunny day for the would be students. Although its nice to see all the little kids wondering around the campus driving through Keele is somewhat of an impossibility. I resorted to road rage, but finally managed to find a space somewhere near Saturn. It’s a bit mean that I have the same parking rights as students do living on campus, I mean there is no alternative, I HAVE to drive in. Well no alternative is a little lie, I could technically sleep rough around Keele, or grab a bus (estimated 4 hours journey). Anyway that’s enough of my ranting, this weather has turned the labs into an oven, don’t know how I will cope with 4 hours of this.

Trail of dead at Manchester

Sunday, March 20th, 2005

Last night I went on a little trip to Manchester Academy to see ..And you will know us by the trail of dead (or trail of dead to save time). They truly did pull out all the stops, two drummers pounded as three guitars strummed to reproduce the wall of noise that makes their albums so good (similar to the technique Abba used, but lets say slightly louder and a tad more aggressive). On leaving Neal and I noticed that we couldn’t hear out of our right ears (as we were to the right of the stage). Even today my right ear is still a bit deaf. The deafness and the wobbly feeling that comes with ear problems is worth it though. I have never seen a band work so hard, and the stage diving was particularly ‘rock ‘n’ roll’. So if you want to bounce around, join into a violent mosh pit and possibly have hearing damage all to quality music I can highly recommend Trail of Dead.

Ebay .. Pah!

Well the graphics card was a duffer. But I suppose it was worth a try. I now have half life 2 sitting on my computer, but with my tiny graphics card (Geforce 2) I haven’t a chance in hell in running it. Might pop up to Overclockers and splash out on a 6600 GT. Hmm. In other news it looks like Laura is jumping on the blogging bandwagon. I suppose I have come to the conclusion that blogs offer the world your personal mindpiss delivery system. They rarely comment on the whole part of you life, just random things that have happened to you. Much like history books I suppose, in that blogs are a uncomplete snapshot of what you are think when you sat down unzipped your minds’ fly and released.

Update: I did indeed go out and buy a 6600GT, and oh my Counterstrike and half life 2 are epic :)
