Wordpress 2.0 and K2

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

Just installed the new fangled wordpress 2.0. This means that things won’t work for a while as I iron out odd things in the UI. i should really test this stuff out before I install away, but where is the fun in that. I am currently using the K2 theme, which is still in beta and is having an arse of a time liking IE. So IE poeple (9 out of 10 of you) will have to live with the sidebar swiming around elsewhere Fixed!

No Kelkoo… bad Kelkoo (taps nose)

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Kelkoo is fab for people such as myself who don’t mind hunting around to get cheap stuff, as it does most of the leg work searching shops and giving a comparable list based on price including delivery. I have used it loads over when buying Christmas gifts, saving me many many whole English pounds!

It is also great because if people are listed on there they have gone to some effort to ensure that they are a real business, as they have paid to be listed, which scam artists don’t tend to do.

Today I noticed one unwanted addition to the kelkoo shopping search engine, ebay. Now I know ebay is home to many fine shops and have had some good experiences using it. However, I had some shit times on it, stuff not coming or generally having a ‘bad time’. And when buying a DVD, which new costs £6 (not linked to as the recipient might be reading), why on earth do I want to search around and deal with the hassle of paypal, users and non guaranteed delivery times?

So kelkoo, I know ebay will be paying you a small fortune to be listed, but can we have different tabs for first and second hand goods? Or even create a user environment where we can switch off ebay listings?

You are a Yahoo! company after all, setting that stuff up cant be that hard…. and possibly actually useful?

The Clangers Album

Friday, December 2nd, 2005

When surfing around the very cool indie online music store bleep.com I came across an album by The Clangers. For those that don’t know The Clangers were a race of tiny creatures that lived on planet far away a great subject matter for a cheap children’s television series. Below is a cool flashy thing to said album. I wonder if anybody will buy it?
